Friday January 21st

Well me and Petra finally moved in to Kamekwilu after the Country Programme meeting. We had a few great days of cleaning up and setting up the office. Petra has become a really good friend over the last few weeks and really gives good advice, we had some really nice times already just talking for hours outside under the stars, with a few drinks, there is even a little bar in town that is quite nice and has good music. It is incredible how quickly you can get to know people through being a humanitarian.

We will be supporting some clinics in the area and may start a HOPE mother and child health clinic in Kamekwilu, Abdulai has already found some great places we could start up in. Petra wants to set up the clinic near the hospital for easy referrals. Ricardo insisted on coming even though his room was not ready and arrived yesterday. We have already employed some staff for logistics, Abdulai was able to help in finding some good guys. When I told Peter he nearly hit the roof he says that I haven't followed the rules properly and should have had a proper hiring procedure, I think Peter has already forgotten what it is like in the field when you don't have the time or resources like you have in the capital. He said that he is going to come next week and check out the guys I have hired, this lack of trust is starting to really annoy me and I think I will have another talk to Claudia about him.

I will be going on Holidays in two weeks with Jen. I haven't really been very good at keeping in contact with Jen and should have written a bit more. I must admit my life back in Australia seems so far away and I think I want to do this job for a while longer and I am not sure how Jen fits into this life any more.

Well I better get back to the bookkeeping, I am already a week late and Anne is starting to get a bit annoyed with me.
